Salmon Fishing in Cumbria, Lancashire & Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Fly Fishers’ Club is synonymous with top quality salmon fishing in the north of England. For many years we have held prime beats on Eden, Eamont, Ribble, Lune and Ure, all of which are ideally suited to fly fishing and which give a spread of opportunities from relatively intimate upper reaches, ideally suited to a single hander, to the majestic lower reaches of the Eden, which are covered in the more traditional way. We can offer not only late summer and autumn salmon fishing, but spring fishing too, and every year, large fresh fish are caught by our members.

Although spinning is permitted at certain heights on some of our beats, fly fishing is strongly encouraged and the vast majority of our members seldom feel the need to reach for the metalwork.

Irrespective of any prevailing byelaws, we continue to encourage 100% catch and release and over recent years, only a very few fish have been taken for the table, a record we pride ourselves on during these times when conservation of Atlantic Salmon stocks is of such utmost importance.

Our beats are all well-maintained and we employ three keepers who are always on hand to advise on water conditions and levels, helping to point members in the right direction to have best chance of a fish or two. As well as a number of riverside huts, we have a well-appointed ‘bothy’ at our Wetheral beat on the Eden which affords members there the opportunity to meet in comfort and compare notes over lunch.
